February 25, 2010 - April Tour Dates & Huckleberry Residency Tour dates announced for April. JDT will be heading out for gigs in NY, CT and VT including masterclasses at Skidmore College and Pomfret School. Check the shows page for more details. February 3, 2010 - Relix Magazine Feature In the current issue of Relix Magazine. ROPEADOPE RECORDS HAS been scooping up the best in forward-looking jazz groups since 1999 and their latest find, JDT, is no exception. Formed in 2008, and led by the pianist Jason Domnarski, the New York-based JDT draws primarily from jazz, but never hesitates to call upon rock or pop. “We finished the record on a Sunday night, I sent [Ropeadope] the rough mixes Monday morning and by that evening we were offered the deal,” recalls Domnarski. The band’s tune “Neckface” features fuzzy, punkish basslines beneath layers of melodic acoustic piano and distorted electric keyboards. “Gastrophysics,” with its infectious synth melody and driving drumbeat, is pure, unrepentant video game funk. “I played a lot of jazz in college, mainly because it was the easiest style in which to develop a personal voice on your instru- ment, and explore compositional and improvisational concepts,” says Domnarski. “Now I listen to everything: jazz, rock, electronic music, dubstep.” September 29, 2009 - JDT B-Sides Free Dowload! Read the whole review here. July 21, 2009 - Neckface video Our good friend Brandon Dagnall just finished a great video for Neckface, from our new record Inventing the Wheel. Inspired by the NYC graffiti artist, the JDT spent the day shooting underground. Brandon had a run in with the NYPD and ended up spending the night in jail. Was it worth it? You be the judge.
